Day at the Fire Station is a nationwide event for the whole family. It is celebrated all over Finland on Saturday, 9 May 2026. The event will give visitors the skills to improve fire safety in their homes. It is highly appreciated by visitors
Hundreds of fire stations invite you to explore their activities and learn important fire safety skills. Participants will learn a wide range of safety skills in the event. Do you know how to perform first-aid extinguishing? Are you able to get out of your home in an emergency? How do you prevent fires?
The event will also give you an insight into fire brigade activities and fire engines. Many fire brigades are taking on new members.

Lessons learnt travel all the way home
Lessons learnt at the event will be put into practice at homes. The Day at the Fire Station event has proven to be an effective way to improve safety at homes. Event organisers and the public like the event and feel that it contributes to improving their fire safety skills. In 2025, nearly half of the visitors reported that they would be better prepared to act in a fire emergency.
A wonderfully planned and executed day! It was great to attend with two toddlers, as there were age-appropriate activity stations and we got some lovely take-home goodies.
The Day at the Fire Station events are coordinated by the Finnish National Rescue Association. The events are funded by the Fire Protection Fund. The events are being organised by the whole rescue sector along with its partners.
